Challenge: The Boston Company (today part of Mellon Trust) was seeking a facility to combine its back-office operations as well as a sophisticated data center for a 10-year lease.  Cabot, Cabot &Forbes – a pioneer in transit-centric development - identified an undervalued 35-acre parcel in 1981 that was adjacent to public transit and near Routes 16 and 28.  However, the industrial-waterfront location on the Malden River needed dramatic improvements.

Solution: Taking a leadership role, CC&F designed and built an extensively landscaped park that recaptures the entire waterfront area.  The project even included the removal of several sunken barges and the seeding of different plant and animal species to create a clean and natural environment setting.

Results: Today, 10 Cabot Road is part of the Wellington Business Center, one of the region’s largest Class-A commercial office parks.  This project houses Citizens Bank, Cross Country Automotive and XXXX.  The five-acre waterfront park is ideally suited for jogging and outdoor lunches.  Lighted sidewalks provide a pleasant walk to the MBTA’s Wellington Station.
